YOANN CIMIER (1974), photographe français, travaille entre la France et la Tunisie.
Sa pratique s’articule autour de travaux de commande pour une clientèle internationale (presse, industrie, architecture, art…) et de séries personnelles centrées autour de l’homme et du paysage, dans l’espace méditerranéen.
Ses séries, réalisées au long cours, s’appuient sur une approche minimale voire sculpturale de la photographie. Sa démarche, qui relève en partie de la maîtrise du hasard et des coïncidences, consiste à faire interagir une variété de formes / objets photographiques pour révéler des sujets de société ou les spécificités d’un territoire.
En empruntant les codes de la photographie documentaire et de la photographie plastique, son travail relève de deux orientations de la photographie contemporaine : celle issue du document – qui sublime la réalité – et celle de la tradition picturale, qui donne à voir un tableau.
En 2013 il fonde son studio - Studio Zembra (inspiré d’un archipel au large de Tunis) pour contrôler la réalisation de ses tirages et maîtriser la production des oeuvres jusqu’à l’encadrement. Une expertise qui le mène à mettre son savoir-faire au service des photographes locaux, artistes en résidence, galeries, fondations, festivals et institutions pour la production d’expositions.
Installé au coeur de Sidi Bou Saïd, célèbre village arabo-andalou, le studio photo est doublé d’un espace d’exposition Galerie Zembretta dédié exclusivement à la photographie.
Yoann CIMIER est représenté en France et à l’étranger par l’ADAGP, pour la gestion des droits de reproduction et de représentation.

YOANN CIMIER (France – 1974) is a french photographer working between France and Tunisia.
His practice is articulated between commissions and personal works centered around human and landscape, in the Mediterranean area.
His series, made in the long course, rely on a minimal or even sculptural approach to photography. His technique, which is part of the control of chance and coincidence, is to interact a variety of forms / photographic objects to reveal social issues. Framing, distance and light remain the essential elements of his photographic language.
Borrowing the codes of documentary photography and plastic photography, his work falls under two directions of contemporary photography : the one from the document - which sublimates reality - and that of the pictorial tradition, which shows a painting.
In 2013 he founded his own studio - Studio Zembra (inspired by an archipelago off the coast of Tunis) to control the production of his prints and control the production of the works right through to framing. An expertise that leads him to put his know-how at the service of local photographers, artists in residence, galleries, foundations, festivals and institutions for the production of exhibitions.
Located in the heart of the village of Sidi Bou Saïd the studio is also an exhibtion space Galerie Zembretta exclusively dedicated to photography.
